Vienna continued

filed under: Austria

Hello again. I think it's been awhile since I've last written. It's been a fun packed few days and often the last thing I think about is getting on the computer for a while. Life sure has changed for me in the last few weeks since I've been abroad.

I've spent the last few days not unlike the way I've spent most of my trip: walking. I love to get out in a new city and walk the streets. Vienna is a great city to walk in. The Zentrum (where just about everything is) is within walking distance of just about everything. Of course, my perspetive on what exactly "walking distance" may be different from yours. As the comic Steven Wright says, "everything is within walking distance if you have the time."

I'm staying with some great people right now. Kurt and his brother Craig, both expats from Houston, have showed me that Texan hospitality extends well beyond the border of the state. They've been living out here for several years and love it. I'm starting to see why. Vienna is definitely not a bad place to live. I can think of (and have lived in) worse. They make is sound very appealing to move out here and stay a while. English teaching jobs seem to be in demand and I may even be able to teach drumming lessons. I'm sure I'll be thinking about both possibilities and more while I'm out and about in Europe.

I'm not ready to settle anywhere just yet. I've got lots more to see and more people to meet. Not sure where I'm headed next just zet. I'm hoping to find a ride somewhere tomorrow, just not sure where. Maybe in the Czech Republic, maybe southwest towards the city of Graz. Only time will tell.

Kurt and I were college roomies back in Houston. You couldn't have hooked up with a better bunch of guys. I've visted them once since they have been there. The job thing is very appealing!! I'm enjoying your journeys!! Keep on keepin' on!!
