3 rides to København

filed under: Denmark

Yesterday was a fun day. I started out around 1pm from Hamburg (where, of course, it was on and off again rain) and got a ride within a half hour by an ex-military German. "Ah, you´re from Texas? Ah, Bush!" This begins my least favorite conversation that I unfortunately have with most of the new people I meet. No one likes "W" here and I like him less and less with every person I meet. "Sorry, I did´t elect him into office, i can´t do anything about it. Let´s talk about something else?"

I had another quick ride to the port of Puttgarden, Germany. He was going on the ferry to Denmark but apparently didn´t want to take me on. So I stopped and wrote out a sign for "Danmark" (how they spell it here) and just a few minutes later I had a ride. This guy was from Argentina and worked smuggling in beer from the German side of the border. So we hopped on the ferry and hoped they didn´t pull him over to find the back of his van completely stuffed with beer. He just happened to be going all the way to København so I found my ride!

My new ride dropped me off right at the door of the girl´s house I was staying at (nice!) She is great! I helped her cook a great dinner and we were both stuffed quickly. It was a great night.

I gotta run. 30 seconds left on my internet time!
