Yesterday was a lot of fun. I spent the whole day with Torben, the father of Janne, whom I stayed with my first two nights here in Copenhagen, Denmark. First off, Janne was wonderful. She opened her home to me and cooked me two great meals. Thanks Janne! And then yesterday her Dad took me out on the town to experience a royal wedding.
København goes wild for their royals! We started the day off with a free breakfast (free is a travelers favorite word, by the way) on one of the town squares. There were tons of people there and everyone seemed excited about Prince Frederick and a Tazmanian girl by the name of Mary getting hitched. From there we made our way through the town and onto a boat ride tour down the harbors. Copenhagen is full of history (anyone heard of Hans Christian Anderson?) so the tour was very cool. The rest of the day Torben took me around and told me about a lot of the history himself. We also took many opportunities to sample the local beers. Yum! Torben even tried to help me hitch a ride on a couple of boats going up towards Sweden but we didn´t have any luck. We finished the day watching Fred and Mary get married on a big screen TV on one of the squares. I had a lot of fun with him and was glad to have him show me his city.
Last night I stayed with Mette who is currently on her way to Turkey right now. I hope she has a great trip. Thanks for the place to stay!
Tonight I´m with Søren. Last year he spent about a year riding a Yamaha motorcycle from Denmark to Australia. I´m so jealous.
