Almost there!

I’m getting closer and closer to my projected leave date for my Great North American Motorcycle Adventure Extravaganza (we’ll go ahead and call it that for now). As of now I’m planning on hitting the road on or around June 8. Sooooo close.
I received two trip prep items in the mail today. I ordered a full face helmet that I desperately needed. I found a great deal on a modular one for $89 shipped. I also got in a toy that I just couldn’t pass up. Earlier this month I found an a too-good-to-be-true deal on a Garmin GPSmap 60 unit. Even though i’ve always wanted one of these things I could never bring myself to justify spending $300+ on a decent model. While this one regularly retails for something like $320 I somehow managed to get one on eBay for the astounding price of just $110 shipped. Yes, it was used but appeared (and was promised) to be in great condition. So I threw the dice and took the gamble.
It paid off! I’ve been playing with this jewel all day and I can’t find a thing wrong with it. It’s going to be great having it on my trip with me and a LOT of help with the instant directions.
I also ordered some additional gear that I know I’ll need. Last time I took off on a cross country trip I paid little attention to what I was wearing, packing, ect. I basically jumped on a bike one morning with a pair of jeans and a thick shirt and drove 4,000 miles. This time I’ll be a little bit more prepared. So I also ordered a leather biker jacket and a pair of chaps. In addition to fitting the part of a cool biker guy I’ll also be a LOT more protected in case of an accident. When you’re planning on rocketing 12,000+ miles around the US with an engine firing between your legs you should at least have the sense to try and protect yourself as best you can.
Ok, a lot of you said you’d like to see more pictures while I’m on the road. You may also have noticed I hardly ever get to update this site anything close to regularly. This is mainly due to the fact that I rely entirely on internet cafes and other people’s computers to put anything up. I’d love to do more here but I haven’t been able to find the cash for a decent laptop. I know I can find one for under $1,000 like I’d want but that’s still too steep for me.

Now is your chance to help. Through PayPal you can donate to my cause. But I’m not asking you to just give me the funds. You’ll get something for your money. Anyone who sends me $10 or more will get a postcard from me while I’m wheeling around. You can even request what state I send it from and if it works out I’ll make it happen.
I don’t like asking for money but I do want to make this site a whole lot better. If you’re interested in helping make that happen I’d love to hear from you!
