and on the flipside...

As many of you are probably aware, my living situation can be considered different and, to many, "interesting". My favorite Chinese proverb (ok, the ONLY Chinese proverb that I know) is "may your life always be interesting." Of course, this can be taken as either a blessing or a curse. I typically feel that when I reach a point where I can't consider my life interesting than it is time to move on. Well, my life continues to be interesting, so here I still am.

IMG_0322-1.JPGOne of my new favorite "interesting factors" is keeping our house stocked with a steady flow of new people. If you aren't aware of where I live here is some background: I have around 15 roommates in a big house in the SF area (right now it is Berkeley but that might change soon...) where everyone here contributes/volunteers/works/etc on a fun project. 4-5 nights a week we all somehow manage to eat together for a big, family-style dinner. It's really my favorite non-"work" related thing that we do here and I'm glad that we manage to continue doing it. Lately it's become even more fun.

These past several weeks I've been taking more time to find more people to invite over for dinner. On CS it's really easy to find new people who live in your area who just signed up. When someone looks particularly interesting (the super easy part is finding interesting people!) I send them an invite to come by and they often accept. And sometimes they find me! Last night we had two separate guests over who both asked through the website to come stay for a night or two. While I wasn't able to offer them a sleeping spot (we already have three guests right now in addition to the 15 that live here) I'm glad they were able to make it to dinner.

And speaking of guests - this is really the first time I've ever been able to offer my "couch" for other CSers to come and stay with me. It's been awesome to open up my home for people to come by and stay for a bit when possible. Having the space to do that is rare for us but my girlfriend and I have been trying to do it whenever a bed opens up.

Coming through the area? Let me know! I'd love to invite you to dinner, offer you a place to stay, or both! We really love having new people come by and share their experiences with lie detector inventors, time-share pitches (both stories from guests last night), or whatever you want to talk about :)

There's so much to discover in this blog, where should I begin? Just wanted to say my favorite thing at our house are the movie sessions. I say we watch Indiana Jones next Tuesday. Are you in? :)
